About Mumtaaz

Our Story

Who We Are

Mumtaaz Incorporated is a not-for-profit community organisation, founded in 2018, made up mainly of migrant Muslims of Nigerian heritage living in Victoria, Australia. The group plays a vital role in strengthening cultural ties, supporting religious practice, and promoting social cohesion among Nigerian Muslims in Australia. Mumtaaz provides support for Nigerian Australian Muslim families, youth, and elders, while also warmly welcoming new members into the community.

Currently, Mumtaaz offers programs that help its members maintain their cultural connections and actively encourages engagement with the wider Australian society. The organisation has a membership base ranging from 250 to 350 people, including families, young people, and elders.

The absolute belief in Allah is the core of Islamic faith. At Mumtaaz, we share the understanding of Allah the creator of the Universe, our responsibilities in connecting with our creator as well as interacting with all elements of His creation.

The attainment of excellence through God-consciousness. In our gatherings, we constantly seek to raise our inner consciousness towards this responsibility and how to reflect this in action and deeds as part of our social responsibilities.

Positive disposition — the bedrock for developing ourselves in character, manners and ethics. At Mumtaaz, we challenge our capacities through continual and consistent efforts to purify our souls.
